How long will the process take?

We will endeavour to reply to your queries within one month, even if this is just to update you if we are waiting on supplier information.

Why is recycle-more interested in excess packaging?

recycle-more are looking at this topic due to all of the consumer, government, and industry interest. We felt that consumers had a right to air their views whilst giving industry the opportunity to provide feedback and take a second look at their packaging. recycle-more aims to provide up to date information for everyone in this area to inform people on what's being done to ensure packaging is as minimal as reasonably possible to complete its task.

How can I help stop excess packaging?

As consumers we can choose the best packaged (least wasteful) products, also now if you feel a product is still over packaged you can fill out our online form, once you have completed this, and submitted it to the recycle more team we will investigate whether or not the product is over packaged and get back to you.

Where can consumers have their say?

recycle-more have set up 'Have your say' to allow consumers to discuss any issues that might have with products packaging. This service will not only allow the consumer to air their views but we will also contact the manufacturer for feedback giving everyone involved the right to express their thoughts and opinions. Also issues can be discussed on the discussion forum.

What is the government doing to reduce packaging waste?

The government is encouraging companies to minimise their packaging and also to contribute to the cost of the packaging being recycled therefore reducing the amount of waste going to landfill. The government has set up an organisation called WRAP who helps individuals, businesses and local authorities to reduce waste and recycle more, making better use of resources and helping to tackle climate change. WRAP works closely with industry and keeps people up to date with changes or things going on that they can get involved with.

What responsibilities do manufacturers & retailers have to reduce packaging waste?

The Packaging Waste Regulations were established in the UK in 1997 after the European Directive was set up in 1994 manufacturers and retailers have to adhere to government regulations where packaging is concerned. As well as the government encouraging companies to recycle 60% of all UK packaging, a rise in consumer interest in the area the environment and recycling. This means that companies must now show that they are aware of their customer needs and incorporate these desires into the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and good practice of their business.

Where can I recycle my packaging waste?

Depending on the type of packaging it can be recycled by taking it to a recycling bank or tip.

Why do manufacturers use different types of plastic which I can not recycle?

Manufacturers use the best packaging depending on the product, for example a company may have to use a different or un-recyclable plastic because it keeps the product fresh for longer providing it with a longer shelf life. Which is better all round for the suppliers and consumers.
