2007/08 Youth Eco-Parliament winners

Youth Eco-Parliament

The third Youth Eco-Parliament was held in Prague in May 2008.

We ran a competition in 2007 looking for a group of young people aged between 14 and 16 to represent the UK at this prestigious event. We asked schools to submit a project proposal to be written, based on this years theme of "Managing our waste and natural resources".

Five students from the winning school were sent on an all expenses paid trip to Prague to represent the UK at the YEP! The winning school and a runner up also visited the Houses of Parliament in London to receive an award which was presented by the RT Hon John Gummer MP.

The winning school, Walton High, worked very hard throughout 2007 and 2008 on an environmental report with other students from accross Europe and Canada. The report was called "Lets Change Our Daily Habits!" and was centred around the environmental projects that the young people have worked on. The report was presented at an official ceremony to representatives of UNESCO , who are co-ordinating the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development.
